Railing Finished!

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

They finished the railing yesterday. They stained it and then sealed it. Looks good!

Appliances & Carpet!

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I haven’t posted in a few days because not a ton of stuff has been going on. Some of the clean up work isn’t as excited. So I decided to hold off and post the fun stuff. We finally got news today that the counter top materials came in. For the people that aren’t up to date we are about a week behind at this point. I am going to update the count down to have an ETA of 11/21. I am really stressing because I was really hoping to get all of our stuff delivered and installed before the BYU vs. Utah game on 11/22. I was also hoping to move the majority of the apt next week. Best case scenerio we will get keys at 4:30pm on 11/20, and worst case scenerio is that we won’t get keys until 4:30pm on 11/21. This will be a problem for DirecTV and Qwest installs. Not too worried about the furniture because they all deliver on Saturdays. We got all of the appliances installed yesterday as well as all of the carpet. We also noticed that they installed the gutters around the house. Most of what is left is just little stuff, minus the counter tops.

Let there be light!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Well it is official! We finally have electricity with a side of light. They came and completed all of the electrical, networking, cabling, and lighting. The central vac guy came today as well. He installed the central vac unit and all of the outlets. We just happened to be pretty excited about the vac pan that we had installed in the kitchen floor. You kick it open and then you sweep all of the junk into it. Pretty sweet! They got all the interior and exterior lights installed and they were all working. Nice to be able to turn on the light and look around for once. They installed all of the interior door hardware as well. The stone guys were still there working when we went to see the house. They had wrapped the front of the house in plastic and had some heaters going. They had all the stone on and were putting in the morter and cleaning up. Outside they also installed our two A/C units.

Electric & Shelving!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Today they started the electrical clean up. They got most of the electric outlets in and most of the light fixtures in. As you can see from the bottom picture they have some work to do in the electrical box. They also came and put in all of the wire shelving. It is looking really good. We were most impressed that the wire shelving in the laundry room actually covers the entire length of the wall. Lots of storage space. The garage had two little suprises in it as well. They delivered the two A/C units today. Sure is fun to go there everyday now because they are doing so much each time we go.

Tile Finished & Stone!

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

They finished the tile on Friday. It looks great! We are very happy with the new color and tile and how close they placed the tile. Very little grout.

Today we got the call that the kitchen counter top is on back order. We don’t know exactly what that means right now, but we could possibly be delayed a few days. We will update you as we get details. They started the stone today. They got all of the stone on the house and most of the pilars done. They also did all the HVAC clean up work. Got all the vents on and the thermostats on. They installed both of the garage doors and garage door openers too. They look pretty good, but we don’t know how quiet they are yet because there still isn’t any power. We purchased the belt driven garage doors so they will be much quieter. Hopefully they will do electrical tomorrow so that we can see the house when we go. Time change makes it dark really quick now.

Tile Day 1!

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Today they started the tile. They were still there working on the tile and they had finished the dining room, kitchen, and hall way downstairs. Upstairs they had done the master bathroom. Tomorrow they will still have the pantry, 1/2 bath, laundry room, 2nd bathroom, and the master bathroom toliet room. It looks really good with the cabinets. I think the 20×20 sized tiles look really good as well. We won’t get to see the house again until Sunday because we are heading up North for Halloween. We are going to James and Jenni’s house to go trick or treating and then game night the following night. Wooo! Party!

Got Cabinets?

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Tuesday they came in and put down the lath for the tile. We weren’t able to get in the house, but that was all they did. Yesterday they installed our cabinets! They look so fantastic. We had decided to go with the knotted wood and we were not disappointed. We were a little nervous that we would get some random huge knot, but from what we saw yesterday, they were all good. The guy was still there at 6pm installing them so the crown molding wasn’t up yet. They also installed the cultured marble for the bathroom surrounds. Beka is glad she went with the white! That is good to hear considering she went back and forth so many times. They seems to be slightly behind with some stuff but after talking to the construction manager yesterday he didn’t seem to concerned. He says we should still be right on track. Can’t wait to see what they do today! Come on tile, and stone!

2 Tone Paint Ya’ll!

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Yesterday they painted all of the baseboards, doors, and door trim. They painted all of it bright white. Then today they painted the Beige color. We didn’t get to see it during the day, but the pictures turned out fine. The paint looked great.

So yesterday we got a call from the Fieldstone Home Center. They informed us that the tile we picked was not available in the 20×20 size. We needed to choose to get a different tile all together or just go with the 13×13 size tile. We went down there tonight and were able to pick a new tile that was very similar to the tile that we had already picked out. The new tile is a little bit darker in color, and a little more brown than the last one. They were very nice to us as well. We walked in and gave us a box of chocolates from the floor company. They then took us over to a table where they had laid out about 15 different tiles, a cabinet drawer, paint sample, and carpet sample. The flooring company also told us that they were going to upgrade our carpet pad to have some moisture barrier. We found the new tile and then started to walk around the home center to remember all of the stuff that we had purchased. We couldn’t seem to find our Fridge, stove, or dishwasher. They informed us that they just upgraded all of their appliances with the new model, and since we haven’t received any of our appliances yet, we will get all of the new models. WOOO! They took good care of us in a difficult time. All in all we are satisfied with the new tile. We should be able to see it in action this week.

Doors, Trim, & Railing!

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Today they installed a lot of stuff. They installed ALL of the interior doors, and put the trim on all of them. They put about 90% of the base boards on as well. The thing I am most excited about is the railing. It looks better than I ever imagined. The picture doesn’t show it very well but the color is hammered bronze, with the alder hand rail. The top picture is the hand and open rail. The next picutre is the french doors to my office. The next picture is some of the interior doors. The last picture shows the base boards.

Stucco & Skip Trowel

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Yesterday they started on the first coat of the stucco. Beka stopped by early and they were just finishing up the base coat. They also started the skip trowel and ceiling textures. They finished up today with all the clean up and sanding. It looks great. I can’t wait to see the two tone paint on the texture. The paint should bring it all out. They are scheduled to start paint on Thursday. They also delivered all of the base board, interior doors, door trim, and stair railing. They are suppose to work on putting in all the base board tomorrow.
